Connecting a property to gas
When confirming your gas requirements the following points should be considered:
- Check whether a gas connection from the Vector gas main to the property is possible. A straight line from the mains to the meter position is required.
- If using gas for a commercial or industrial business, determine that the gas volume and pressure required is available.
- Determine a suitable location for the meter then check proposed positioning in relation to the clearances required.
- In the case of a new building, organise for the gas service to be laid during construction, when other services are being laid.
- Determine positioning of gas appliances. Always check dimensions of appliances and their required clearances.
- Organise for the installation of the appliances by a certified gasfitter. This can be arranged by a Channel Partner.
- Ensure that the internal gas piping is run at the most logical stage of development. In the case of new buildings this is usually when the building framework is up. Think of gas piping in the same way as water piping or telephone lines.
